The pictoric maya symbols  had several levels of accessibility and comprehension for the community, such that certain representations had an exclusive  meaning or interpretation of an elite that exercised a social and economical control through the knowledge of the hieratic and esoteric signs that in many cases manifest the will and the designation of the gods and supernatural forces of which the maya people were submitted to.

In this report we mainly refer to the pictoral vestiges that are found on the surface of buildings covered in many diverse motifs.

The intensification of comercial maratime routes on the east coast of the Yucatán peninsula during the Late Postclassic was the consequence of sociopolitical factors and changes, most probably induced by the fall of Chichen Itza.

During the Postclassic period, coastal sites that could control long distance sea routes emerged in importance.

Tulum, a major coastal site in the central región of Quintana Roo, was one of the principal centers of comercial exchange during the last part of the Postclassic Period.

La intensificación de las rutas comerciales marítimas en la costa oriental de Yucatán, durante el Posclásico Tardío, fue la consecuencia de factores y cambios sociopolíticos,  probablemente inducidos por la caída de Chichen Itzá.

Durante el Posclásico, los sitios costeros que pudieron controlar las rutas de comercio de larga distancia adquirieron importancia.

Tulum, uno de los sitios mas grandes de la región central de Quintana Roo, fue uno de los principales centros de intercambio comercial, durante la ultima parte del Posclásico.
